Example of Dream Interpretation

My Dream:

I was on a trip in Europe with family. We were sitting at a table inside, but the table was like a picnic table with benches made of wood. Lorrie was next to me. I told everyone we needed to go because international checkin was 2 hours. They said we had time when I realized my watch was 2 hours ahead of time so I relaxed and finished packing. It was my second packing because we had come from another city recently. Then I'm in the airport terminal laying down. A girl was next to me. It's like we had made a pallet right on the inside of security. I had fallen asleep and had a dream. I dreamed there were large rats like nutrea in the waves of an ocean. I began to panic at the sight and freaked out and started to slap at the rats eventhough I was not in the water. When I woke, I told the girl and she said to write it down. As I'm writing it down there appeared a very large white horse in the terminal. There was a small black boy about 6 on the horse and he got it under control. I said I can't believe his parents let him on that huge horse.

Dream Interpretation

There has been something in the last few days that has challenged the dreamers sense of security and stability. She has been anxious about it and trying to wrap her brain around it per say. The foriegn country denotes this unfamiliar mindset. The dreamer is not used to this apprehension and is gathering her thoughts and attitudes so that she may do what she must to acheive the goal or desire she wishes. The aspect of Lorrie lets her know that it is ok and she can relax. (This dreamer sees Lorrie as one that always thinks things will work out.)  Everything and every decision does not have to be made immediately. There is time to think about it and weigh her thoughts on the matter. The duality of good or bad, right or wrong comes into play twice in this dream. First in the measurement of experiences and second in the packing twice.  She is wondering and afraid that she does not have the experience to acheive the desire or goal she has been thinking of. She is afraid that she is not going to be prepared. Then the scene changes to the airport symbolizing a change in mindset. The dreamer's thinking is one of self expression. How is she going to express herself as an individual and in a group. This brings about a habit of fear. This is happening in a dream within the dream showing an awareness of her inner self and an awareness of this fear. She wakes and the unknown aspect of the girl tells her to write it down. This names the fear which is very important. Naming it takes away the fear because fear is based in the unknown. The large white horse appears telling the dreamer that it is going to require will power which the dreamer has access to within. It seems like a huge thing to accomplish and somewhat overwhelming but by using the will, the dreamer can overcome this and bring the desired results to reality.

Apply to Waking Life

The dreamer states that her feelings about Europe are good ones, a place she loves to go; but, is still unfamiliar teritory. This reflects the thoughts on her desire. There is a strong desire to complete this goal, but she is fearful. The goal of this dreamer is to start a Dream Share Group.

With that knowledge we can go into depth with how this dream message should be received. She has a fear that she will not be prepared so the dream message is clearly stated  by a conscous aspect of herself that she sees as one who has an attitude that every thing will work out. It is ok to stop and gather her thoughts and that she has time. One way to accomplish this is meditation and concentration excersises. This will still the mind allowing her to gather her thoughts and to focus.

Then the mind set changes mid-dream to one of concern. How will she express herself in a group or individualy. This is symbolized by being at the airport. The message of the dream here is to acknowledge her fear and name it; to call it out for what it is. (This dreamer has an "irrational fear of rats".)

Awakening from the dream - within - the - dream there is an awareness forming and this realization comes in the form of the white horse which symbolizes will power. The boy who is representing the maturing idea is of a different race indicating a slight unawareness of how she wants or needs to accomplish her goal.

Of course the final answer in this dream comes down to willpower. Will power is not won't power. Some believe will power is denying yourself like being on a certain diet. But that is not what will power is. If you think of will power positively instead of negatively you will see will power is the engagement of will toward a particular goal or desire.
